RINCEN

Rincen grew up in a countryside commune and grew up with Tibetan monks in Tuscany. After graduating in Visual Anthropology, she spent several years traveling and collecting fabrics and antique objects. While working as a costume designer and props maker on ‘Ships of Fools,’ a sailing theatre company that traveled the world’s far-flung corners, she started her first experiments in textile art and tattooing.

Living in London for many years, she developed an interest in other forms of art, thanks to the exchange with the international scene of DIY artists, performers, and musicians in the community of Hackney Wick. The body of work is mainly a dialogue between tattooing and embroidery, from paper to skin to fabric.

Her research and production are focused and inspired by universal archetypes, archeological fantasies, past and present storytelling, and uncommon plus imaginary ways humans have created.
She currently lives between the Southern coast of the UK and Tuscany, Italy.
